On Saturday, 27th July, the annual APOD 2024 Walk for a Veteran with PTSD event united members of the defence and veteran communities along the Adelaide coastline. Now in its 9th year, this event is dedicated to raising awareness and fostering support for the well-being of veterans, including those from defence, police, emergency services, and corrections.

It was great to see an amazing turnout of walkers, with participants choosing to walk 42km, 28km, 14km or 7km. Over $19,700 was raised from the event this year, with funds being donated to the event charity partners, Partners of Veterans Association of Australia and SA Police Legacy.

The APOD Team, comprising of staff members, their families, as well as a four-legged furry friend, proudly joined the walk in support of this amazing cause. Walking along the picturesque esplanade from Henley to Seacliff, passing through Glenelg and Brighton, it was an amazing opportunity for us to raise awareness for the cause, share laughs, enjoy ourselves, and bond over a meaningful cause.

We greatly appreciate the support of Senator Andrew McLachlan CSC, a dedicated patron of the charity, and Joe Szakacs MP, who lent a helping hand at the lunch counter. Your support is invaluable!

We are also deeply grateful to every individual who generously supported the cause through their donations. With your help, we can keep honouring our heroes and creating a lasting impact.

The primary goal of the walk is to raise awareness about the physical and mental health challenges faced by military and emergency services personnel, as well as their families. By donating, you can help draw attention to these crucial issues and contribute to the overall well-being of our heroes.
