Supporting the launch of Legacy Week 2022

Australian Partners of Defence (APOD) proudly supports Legacy Australia. Paul Broadbridge, CEO of APOD attended the national launch of Legacy week at the Australian War Memorial, and the Legacy Torch Relay at Parliament House, Canberra on 29th August ‘22. As part of the event he had fruitful conversations with both the Veteran Families Commissioner, Gwen Cherne and DFA Convenor, Sandi Laaksonen-Sherri on how we can further support and recognise our defence and veteran community.

Members of the APOD team also attended the Legacy Week Appeal Breakfast at the Adelaide Oval on 26th August. We are so proud to partner with such an important charity, first established back in 1923 and now caring for over 40,000 beneficiaries across Australia. If you’d like to get involved with Legacy to support defence families, you can volunteer to be part of their team of legatees, visit https://www.legacy.com.au/Legatees.

APOD in the RAAF Base Amberley

Earlier in August, we attended the RAAF Military Support Conference in Ipswich where we were a guest presenter. We presented about how, as the official benefits program, we provide support to the veteran community and their families.

We were privileged to meet with various Units/Squadrons in RAAF Base Amberley and talk with current serving members around the benefits of APOD. This meeting provided our members with an opportunity to share direct feedback with us and hear of their positive experiences on using the offers in the APOD platform.

Great to meet some of our business partners

While in Queensland, we met up with some of our business partners to discuss how our members were engaging with their current offer and how we could create further engagement with our members.

There were many union representatives, defence and veteran families and compatriots from the community attending the ceremony. Paul laid a wreath on the Vietnam War Memorial monument that acknowledges the contribution of all those who served in the Vietnam War between 1962 and 1973. Lest We Forget.

APOD supported the 2022 Smartbar Walk for a Veteran with PTSD event in Adelaide

APOD supported the 2022 Smartbar Walk for a Veteran with PTSD event that was held at Adelaide on 27th August. The annual event aims to draw attention to the physical and mental health issues that affect many military and emergency services personnel and their families. Members of the APOD team walked between 14km and 42km along the Adelaide coastline, accompanied by our friends at Humanology Recruitment.

We also had a stall at the Seacliff SLSC to engage with the defence and veteran families present at the event. All in all, it was a great day out!

Every dollar donated to this fundraiser goes towards support services for our defence and emergency service personnel, so if you’d still like to show your support, visit the APOD & Humanology fundraising page APOD (Australian Partners of Defence) & Humanology Recruitment (mycause.com.au).

Overall, the APOD team had a fantastic line-up of engagement with events in the defence and veteran community recently. We look forward to reaching out and attending more events and exciting opportunities ahead!
