APOD has entered a new chapter in its mission to support defence, veteran, and first responder families, with the launch of APOD Community Ltd as a registered charity and the opening of a dedicated community space in Keswick, South Australia.

Announced on Thursday, 28 August 2025, this milestone marks a significant evolution for APOD — expanding its impact beyond digital support into a physical space where connection, collaboration, and community can thrive.

The new community hub provides a place for members, partners, and the wider defence and first responder community to come together, access support, and build meaningful relationships. It also strengthens APOD’s ability to deliver programs focused on cost-of-living relief, wellbeing, and career pathways.

The launch event brought together close to 80 senior leaders from defence, government, business, and veteran support organisations, highlighting the strong network backing APOD’s continued growth.

South Australia’s Minister for Veterans Affairs, Joe Szakacs, acknowledged the organisation’s contribution to the community, noting its role in supporting economic and financial resilience for veteran families.

Wing Commander Craig Keane of the Royal Australian Air Force also spoke to APOD’s real-world impact, emphasising that the program goes beyond financial savings — fostering recognition, belonging, and ongoing support for defence families.

The event was supported by a wide range of business partners, including Commonwealth Bank, Garmin, Spinifex Brewing Co, and several veteran-owned and national brands. These partnerships continue to play a key role in delivering value and opportunities to the APOD community.

Between 2019 and 2023, APOD delivered more than $55 million in savings to defence and veteran families. With the establishment of APOD Community, this impact is set to grow even further.

APOD CEO Paul Broadbridge described the launch as a defining moment for the organisation.

“This office gives us a home, this charity gives us a purpose, and this program gives us a way forward,” he said.

Through APOD Community, the organisation will focus on relieving financial hardship, supporting mental health and wellbeing, and creating pathways for employment and entrepreneurship. By working closely with expert partners, APOD aims to ensure families can access the right support at the right time.

Since its founding in 2012, APOD has remained committed to improving the financial and social wellbeing of defence and veteran families. This new chapter builds on that legacy — creating more opportunities to support, connect, and empower the community.
