Robby’s Walk in the Green was created in honour of Robby, a veteran, mate, father, son, brother and someone deeply respected by those who knew him.
Following Robby’s passing in October 2024, his mates, family and wider community came together with a shared goal to create something meaningful in his memory that could help support other families facing difficult times.
In October 2026, a team of close mates, former serving members, first responders, along with Robby’s dad and brother, will undertake a Kokoda Trek in honour of Robby and all those we have lost.
The walk represents resilience, mateship, sacrifice and the importance of looking after each other when it matters most.
Through this initiative, funds will be raised for APOD Community to help provide immediate practical support to veterans, first responders and their families following the sudden loss of a loved one.
He was known for his loyalty, humour, resilience, spirit of adventure and the strong bonds he built throughout his life, particularly during his military service.
Like many veterans, Robby experienced challenges after service, but those closest to him remember the positive impact he had on others, the friendships he built and the unwavering mateship he showed throughout his life.
This initiative is focused on honouring the best parts of who Robby was, his service, his spirit and the connection he shared with others, while creating something meaningful that can support families experiencing hardship and loss.
Funds raised through Robby’s Walk in the Green will support the work of APOD Community in providing immediate emergency financial assistance to families of veterans and first responders experiencing the sudden loss of a loved one.
The initiative is designed to provide practical support during the critical early period following a loss, helping ease some of the immediate financial pressure families can face while navigating grief and longer-term support pathways.

APOD Community is an ACNC registered Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) supporting veterans, first responders and their families through practical wellbeing, connection and financial support initiatives.
