Earlier this month, the APOD team travelled to Townsville to participate in the ADF Member and Family Transition Seminar and connect with the local defence and veteran community.

Held on 8 June 2022 at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre, the seminar provided an excellent opportunity to engage directly with current and transitioning ADF members and their families. Throughout the day, the APOD booth welcomed a steady flow of visitors, with many keen to learn more about the benefits of membership and the wide range of offers available.
The team connected with new and existing members, offering demonstrations of how to access discounts through the APOD App and answering questions about the platform. Several attendees signed up on the day, while others shared how frequently they use APOD — particularly the gift card offers — as part of their everyday savings.
Beyond member engagement, the visit opened the door to valuable partnerships and future opportunities. Conversations with representatives from RSL Queensland explored the potential for video information sessions, while connections with Defence personnel, including members from 10FSB, highlighted opportunities to deliver tailored sessions within units.
The team also met with local organisations and partners across Townsville, including The Oasis Townsville, where discussions focused on strengthening connections between businesses and the defence community. Engagement with Defence Force Recruiting representatives provided an opportunity to explore how APOD information could be shared with new recruits and their families at the point of entry into service.
Catching up with veteran-owned businesses and local partners was another highlight of the trip. From Carmichael Ford to Cates Chemist, these conversations centred on enhancing engagement and continuing to recognise those who serve through meaningful offers and support.
Overall, the Townsville visit proved a great success, reinforcing APOD’s commitment to building strong relationships within defence communities across Australia. The team looks forward to continuing these conversations and creating new opportunities to support members and their families.
