Service life affects the whole family. Through the Cowork Coplay program, spouses, families and veterans are being supported to build confidence, explore new opportunities and take their next step.
Over the last eight weeks, the latest Adelaide Cowork Coplay program brought together veterans, partners of current-serving ADF members, partners of veterans and children of veterans to focus on what comes next.
Through a supportive environment shaped by lived experience, participants explored self-awareness, career development, wellbeing, joy, and community information and services.
The program, which has also been delivered in Darwin, concluded in Adelaide on Tuesday 23 June 2026, with participants, sponsors and stakeholders gathering at the Lives Lived Well Northern Adelaide Veterans’ and Families’ Wellbeing Hub to celebrate the group’s achievements.
Claire Harris, Co-founder and Director of Human Quotient Group, said the program helps participants “reflect, learn, take action and create greater agency over their lives” while enhancing personal and family wellbeing.
At APOD, we believe that when one person serves, the whole family serves. Defence service doesn’t just shape the life of the person in uniform, it also impacts partners, spouses, children and families. Careers, education, wellbeing, routines and community connections can all be influenced by the unique realities of military life.

APOD’s Support & Engagement Manager, Wes Woulleman, attended the Adelaide closing event and, through his own lived experience as a veteran, understands the importance of supporting the wider family unit.
“As veterans, many of us understand the challenges that can come with service life and the transition from it. What is sometimes overlooked is the impact that service has on partners, children and families.
Programs like Cowork Coplay recognise that. By supporting spouses, families and veterans to pursue their career, education and wellbeing goals, we are helping to strengthen the entire veteran community.”
While the eight-week program has concluded, the confidence gained, goals set and connections made will continue long after the final session.
As the latest Adelaide group celebrated the completion of the program, there was a strong sense of achievement, optimism and community in the room.
